KISS KA KISSA…

KISS KA KISSA…

Can “Chumma” make a “Dhanda” profitable? The question has a kissy-touch!! Its hissy reply is if you kiss in a “Dhanda,” there would be massive “Dhamal”. Forget about profit, you may end up in jail.

But “Chumma” has immense commercial value in Bollywood’s filmy-”Dhanda”!!! If kisses are galore in the 80-odd Bollywood movies to be released in 2013, it really makes money-sense. Kissing, in a newsy development, is no more a taboo for the Film Censor Board. The kiss had finally planted its presence in Bollywood.

Film directors like S Singh, even takes pride for portraying prolonged kiss-scenes. In his Bloody D, the kisses of Aslam Khan and Sanaa lasted abnormally long and the scene could be screened only after a marathon 13-shots-sessions. Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh kissed most erotically in Band Baaja Baraat.

All stars, including Amitabh Bachhan, now are in kissing spree. Why not? Is not Satyam Shivam Sundram still memorable for the classic scene of Sashi Kapoor smooching Zeenat Aman?

“CHUMMA”, THE SUCCESS MANTRA

Lip-locking not only make films successful but also brightens the filmy-prospects of actors. Serial-kissers Emran Hashmi and “Chumma”-queen Mallika Sherawat owe their popularity to it. Emran, at the preliminary stage of his career, kissed his co- stars in every film while Malika broke all “Chumma”-records by 17-kissing her co-star in Khwahish.

After 1980, flood-gate of “Chumma” was laid open and the audience liked it.

ORIGIN OF “KISS-STORY”

Filmy “Kiss-story” began in 1929 in the silent-film A Throw of Dice. The heroine Seeta Devi created a massive sensation across India of the then British Raj by kissing the lips of hero Charu Roy. This movie has been digitally restored in 2006. Allured by the success, Devika Rani went on kissing his lover Himanshu Roy in “Karma” for four-long minutes making the film a box office super-hit in 1933. Since then, kissing had been enhancing the financial success of the films.

REEL LIFE “CHUMMA” VS REAL-LIFE ONES…….……..

The Central Board of Film Certification, crusading against ‘’kissing’’ till 1975, finally has given up to allow scandalous smooches

Some reel life idols also indulged in real-life kissing causing hissing hullabaloo!!! Kiss created massive problems for them.

Karina Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor were allegedly seen in real-life lip-locking in a Mumbai restaurant while Richard Gere kissing Shilpa Shetty in a function. Shabana Azmi even incurred the Muslim-wrath for kissing Nelson Mandela during his India-visit in 1993.

Scandalous kiss……? Hold your breath!!

In 1979, Padmini Kolhapure gave the security a slip to kiss Prince Charles, the Royalty, creating a global flutter. Seven years later, the pop singer Mika grabbed Rakhi Sawant and kissed her prompting the item girl to file a police complaint.

Some filmy actors created sensations for kissing in foreign lands. Dev Patel and Freida Pinto were spotted kissing during a romantic night out in Israel and Bipasha Basu locked her lips with the Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo in Lisbon. “CHUMMA” DEPRIVED HRITHIK FROM ATTENDING AISHWARYA’S WEDDING Bachans (Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek Bachhan) were upset with the lip-lock scene between Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2. It disturbed them to an extent that Hrithik, despite being Abhishek’s Childhood friend was not invited at the ‘Abhi-Aish’s wedding. Interestingly, a criminal case was also filed against Hrithik-Aish duo for having kissed too overtly in Dhoom2.

BOLD KISS-SCENES OF BOLLYWOOD

Bold yet “unusual” kissing scenes made films like Fire” and “Black” very successful. ‘Fire’ (1996), a portrayal of lesbian love, saw Shabana Azmi kissing Nandita Das. In ‘Black’ (2005), Amitabh Bachan and Rani Mukherjee, playing teacher-student roles, kissed each other making it a hit. In ‘Hey Ram’ (2000), Kamal Hasan and Rani Mukherjee offered very bold kiss-scenes.

Money-sense of kissing scenes can be gauged from the fact that Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, released in 2011, had a very bold smooth between Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. The movie, make with US$ 10.01 million, grossed US$ 27.85 million.

Raj Kapoor resorted to bold smooch-scenes in Satyam Shivam Sundaram (Sashi Kapoor kissing Zeenat Aman under a waterfall), Ram Teri Ganga Maili (Rajiv Kapoor kissing Mandakini) and Bobby (Rishi Kapoor smooching Dimple Kapadia) though he himself kissed only once: in Mera Naam Joker. In it, he locked his lips with the Russian actress Ksiena Rambiankina. Call it a firangi attraction……?

CENSOR HARDLY NOW SCISSOR SMOOCH-SCENES

The Central Board of Film Certification, crusading against ‘’kissing’’ till 1975, finally has given up to allow scandalous smooches. Though it  banned gay kissing in “Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyun” and making producer of Boom (2003) cut certain very bold scenes, allowed “Khalnaik” Gulshan Grover to kiss Katrina Kaif many times. Mallika Sherawat broke all the norms with her 17 kisses in Khwahish.

In Dayavan (1988), Madhuri Dixit and Vinod Khanna smooched so nicely that the film was a box office hit and in Raja Hindustani (1996), Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor even dared rainfall to kiss each other. Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi locked their lips in Kyun…Ho Gaya Na (2004) while Kareena Kapoor kissed Fardeen Khan many times in Dev. While Dhoom 2 (2006) saw Aishwarya Rai kissing Hrithik Roshan most romantically, in Ishqiya Kiss (2010), Vidya Balan and  Arshad Warsi kissed to create real raw appeals.
