Before you jump into ‘over the counter quick skin care tips’ during this winter, know your type of skin and thus apply the right care.

The human skin type is usually of 4 types :Normal,Dry,Oily & Combination.

• Normal Skin – is soft, velvety and free of blemishes, acne and other skin problems.

• Oily skin – is a result of the over activity of the sebaceous glands. This skin type is very difficult to look after as it is more susceptible to acne,pimple and blackheads. It is essential to wash the skin deep and keep it free from oil.

• Dry skin – is flaky in texture and lacks a natural glow. This is because of the lack of moisture in the skin, over exposure to sun chemicals & excessive use of soap and water are taboo for dry skin. Use moisturizers

• Combination Skin – few areas of the skin are greasy while other parts are flaky and dry. This winter remember the following tips

  1. Always take hot shower daily during winter.
  2. Don’t use harsh and dry soaps as the skin is already dry and crusty.
  3. After taking a bath apply a good quality moisturizing lotion on your body.
  4. Before going into the sun, apply sun block lotion that has zinc oxide and SPF30
  5. protection.
  6. Moisturize your lips with lip-balm of course, containing moisturizing elements and vitamin E.
  7. Cover your hands with a towel immediately after washing and always pat dry them instead of rubbing and use some good hand cream available in the market to keep the moisture retained in your hands. Don’t use lotions.
  8. Protect your nails, use gloves.
  9. Exfoliate your skin at least twice a week during winter season
  10. Don’t forget your dry scalp at all. Use medicated and anti-dandruff shampoos.

Drink lot of water to avoid dehydration. It is even better if its hot water with some lemon drops. It cleans your blood faster and keeps skin fresh. Having sufficient sleep is also very important. Look young and fresh always. Happy holidays
